Unless you are a great photographer, and illustrator or have lots of friends who are willing to sign release forms for your advertising, you should consider using stock photography.
Stock photos allow you to try out alot of options quickly and test them.
I have used shutterstock on many projects in the past and it's worked well. They are not that cheap, but how you market yourself is a big part of your business and in my mind worth investing in.
